This page is the plain-language companion to the Privacy Policy. Where the two differ, the Privacy Policy governs.
Comfort contains no advertising software and no third-party analytics software. Nothing is shared for cross context behavioural advertising, and there is no advertising identifier collected. Selling personal information is not the same as sharing it with the providers who operate the app; those are listed below and may process your information only to provide their service to Comfort.
Comfort does not claim that all data is stored exclusively in Google Cloud, because that would not be true. Apple necessarily processes some personal data on the app's behalf, and always will.
| Provider | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Google (Firebase and Google Cloud) | Accounts and sign-in, the database, photo storage, server functions, notification delivery infrastructure, remote configuration, and photo safety scanning. |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, push notification delivery through Apple Push Notification service, and subscription transaction notifications. None of this can be routed through another provider. |
| Google Maps and Places | Venue details and place photos shown in the app. |
| Google Gemini | Organising event and resource listings. Member profiles, reviews, messages and coordinates are never sent. |
Any additional provider will be disclosed here and in the Privacy Policy before it processes member data.
Your profile is split in two. The full record is readable only by you. A separate public projection carries only the fields you have marked public, and it is what other members read. Fields set to private are not merely hidden in the interface; they are never delivered.
Your comfort preferences, your notification settings, your legal acknowledgment history, and your saved places are private to your account.
Comfort exists to pool what members know about real places. A review you write, including its photos, the size range you chose to share, and the month you visited, is readable by every signed-in member. Your display name and profile photo appear on it. Do not put anything in a review you would not want attached to your name.
Comfort can remind you to rate somewhere just after you have been there. It is off unless you switch it on, and it works entirely on your iPhone: iOS tells the app a visit happened, the app works out which business that was on the device, and the reminder is posted by the device. Nothing about where you have been reaches us, because there is no server involved in it.
It stays away from your home by never having known where that is. A place with no business at it matches nothing, so nothing is asked; and somewhere you go again and again is treated as part of your life rather than as a place to ask about. What you have been asked about is kept on the device and deleted when you sign out.
Records that the law requires Comfort to retain, such as proof that you accepted these terms, are kept for as long as it requires and no longer.
Blocking, reporting, muting, message requests, private profile mode, and account deletion are free permanently. Putting a block button behind a purchase would place the members most likely to be harassed behind a paywall.
