Comfort is an 18+ social app for the size-positive community. This policy describes what we collect, why, and your choices, reflecting the app's actual behavior.

Information we collect

You must be 18 or older to use Comfort.

• Account & identity (via Sign in with Apple or Google): a provider user identifier, your email address, and (if provided) your name. Handled by Firebase Authentication (Google LLC). We never receive your Apple/Google password.
• Profile content you create: username, display name, bio, links to your other accounts, and optional details including gender, pronouns, sexual orientation, relationship status, age, community identities, and body type. Each of these optional fields has its own visibility control, and your height, weight, and goal weight stay hidden unless you turn on "Show my stats." Stored in Cloud Firestore.
• Photos you upload: up to 5 profile photos (which rotate on your profile and appear in the Discover grid) and up to 2 photos per venue review. Stored in Cloud Storage for Firebase.
• Messages and posts you send: the content of your direct messages, community chat, group chat, and venue live-chat, together with who sent them and when. Stored in Cloud Firestore so we can deliver them to the people you're talking to.
• Venue reviews: your written "comfort" notes and ratings for a place, and, if you choose to add them, your own height and weight for context.
• Events & connections: which events you RSVP to, and your friend connections and friend requests within the app.
• Diagnostic logs: basic error and event logs (such as app version, device OS version, and error details) so we can find and fix bugs. These are tied to your account and stored in Cloud Firestore.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, we do not use a third-party crash-reporting service, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Diagnostics are our own in-house logs, described above.

Sensitive details. Some optional profile fields, such as sexual orientation, are sensitive. You choose whether to provide them, you control who can see each one, and we use them only to operate your profile within the app, never for advertising or tracking.

Location. With your permission, the app uses your device's location on your device only, to show nearby businesses and to color community-chat names by rough distance. Your precise location is never stored on our servers or shown to anyone. If you post in the community chat, an intentionally coarse location (rounded to roughly a 7-mile area) may be attached to the message so others see a distance band (like "within 20 miles"), never your exact position, neighborhood, or city. This rounding is enforced by our server security rules, not just by the app.

Location in the background. If you switch on “Ask me after I have been somewhere” in Notifications settings, Comfort asks iOS for Always location so it can notice when you have spent a while somewhere and remind you to rate it. This is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time here or in iOS Settings.

When it is on, iOS tells the app that a visit happened. The app matches that spot to a business on your iPhone and posts the reminder from your iPhone. Nothing about where you have been is sent to us or stored on our servers — there is no server involved in this feature at all. The list of places you have been asked about stays on your device and is deleted when you sign out.

The app does not learn where you live. Somewhere with no business at it matches nothing and is never mentioned, and somewhere you go repeatedly is treated as part of your life rather than as a place to ask about.

How we use information

• To create and operate your account and profile.
• To show your profile to other signed-in members, the core function of the app.
• To deliver your messages, reviews, and posts to other members.
• To show nearby places and local events, and to handle your event RSVPs.
• To keep the service secure, fix bugs, and enforce our Terms.

How information is shared

• With other members: your profile content, messages, posts, and reviews are visible in-app to the members you share them with.
• With service providers: we rely on a small number of vendors that process data on our behalf:
  • Google / Firebase — authentication, database, and photo storage.
  • Google Maps / Places — venue details and photos. Queried by place and location, not tied to your identity.
  • A third-party event provider — to surface local body-positive events. We send only a city or search term, never your identity.
  • A transactional email provider — to send RSVP confirmation emails. It receives your email address for that purpose only.
• We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for advertising.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your account information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and associated data (including your profile, photos, messages, and reviews) at any time from Profile → settings → Delete account, or by emailing support@dorislifechapters.com.

Safety & moderation

Members can report and block others. Content that violates our Terms may be removed and accounts suspended.

Children

Comfort is strictly for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes

We will update this policy as the app evolves and post the new effective date.
